We live in a world that thrives on attention—each like, comment, and opinion shapes the way we look at others and, most importantly, ourselves. It will soon come to a point where we start looking at ourselves through the lens of others—a time when external influences bleed into our soul, changing and blurring what once existed. Soon, we will all become a mirage of other people's views in the process of losing ourselves to the world.
Validation can be motivating—sure—but it should never be the foundation of your existence. Just like how our life is momentary in the endless stretch of time, fame disappears as the people who fuel it fade away. To live a meaningful life, you must first live a life that you are proud of. Not your parents. Not your peers. You.
But here is something to remember—praise is fleeting. Only what exists within you remains eternal as long as your spirit lives on. Live life in a way that aligns with your values. Understand who you are, what makes you you, and do everything within your capacity to keep that light from dying out. Follow your heart. Chase your dreams—for it is hope that pulls us from beginning to end. Without dreams, there exists no life worth living. Do not wander aimlessly without purpose—if you do, you might be wasting one of the most wonderful cosmic miracles: life.
Do not leave your happiness at the mercy of others. Do not rely on others to determine the quality of your life. When you remain in control of your choices, uninfluenced by the voices around you—that is when you know you are truly living for yourself.
