The part about death that scares us is the fear of not knowing what to expect - the unknown. It's impossible for the human mind to grapple with anything beyond the physicality of the world. Maybe that's for a reason. Maybe we were made this way - only to perceive the three-dimensional space around us and nothing more.
Our ability to question the universe has to be the malediction of our existence, for it is the only thing that prevents us from living in the moment - experiencing the things we were meant to - instead of longing for something beyond our reach.
But honestly - the idea of nothing after death is terrifying, don't you think? Partially because we don't have the capacity to understand what nothing means. When we hear the word nothing, the first thing that comes to our mind is darkness - but darkness is something. What would it mean for nothing to exist? Perhaps we will never know - for nothing… is literally nothing.
P.S. All of my entries may not align with the current timeline as I tend to write on random days and publish later to stay consistent with my blog posting days (UNLESS something really big happens). So if you're seeing "back to school" related posts in October… now you know why :)
