The Sunset I Was Missing (Because I Was Looking the Wrong Way)

For the past month, I’ve been looking out my window at exactly 6:30 PM, hoping to catch the perfect sunset. And every single time? Dark blue sky. No sun. I kept thinking, okay, it’s just the cold or the rainy weather hiding it.

Then yesterday, I went up to the terrace and could partially see the sun from my window so I was like screw it ill take what I get. When I went up though...it was a whole different story. I saw the most beautiful sunset ever (my judgemetn is definetly impaired from the months of not seeing one so maybe not the best ever) … it was insane. Poison and Wine in my headphones, the wind blowing just right, the sun setting perfectly… my whole body literally hitched. I almost teared up and im not even exagerating.

Today, same thing - I looked out my window, dark blue again. But when I went up? The sunset was there, in all its glory. That’s when it clicked - my window faces east. The sun sets in the west. The sunsets were happening — I just wasn’t looking from the right angle. One side of the sky, the mountains, was glowing gold and pink. The side my window faced? Dark blue.

You know me, ill make everything into something metophoric so here goes: perspective is everything. If you only look at life from one angle, you’ll feel like nothing’s happening. You might think you’re missing out. But the sunsets - the good stuff  - is often there; you just need to see it from the right spot. Life’s the same. If you stay stuck in your mindset or comfort zone, you miss so much beauty around you.

Lesson learned: don’t rely on the same window to see everything. Step back, change your perspective, maybe even move around a bit - the world is bigger than what you see from one spot. You just have to look in the right direction.
